Why does night happen?
Your marker faces the Sun. It is daytime there.
Cross-section model · viewpoint and sizes simplified. Earth takes about 24 hours to turn.
NASA: Earth’s spin and tilt ↗Start with one question. Test an idea and collect something you can explain.

Big word?
Make a prediction, try it, then tell someone what changed.
Finished exploring? Let’s continue your mission.
Make a prediction, move a control, then explain what changed.

Cross-section model · viewpoint and sizes simplified. Earth takes about 24 hours to turn.
NASA: Earth’s spin and tilt ↗The Moon’s weaker gravity means a higher jump with the same take-off speed. Your mass stays the same.
Idealised calculation · ignores a spacesuit, balance and air resistance.
NASA: What is gravity? ↗You see the Sun as it was about eight minutes ago.
Approximate light travel times · diagram not to scale.
NASA: What is a light-year? ↗With Earth as a 2 cm marble, Jupiter would be about 11 times wider.
Circles use the same diameter scale; distances are not shown. A wider planet need not have solid ground.
NASA: Meet the planets ↗From a hot young world to our living blue planet. Read what the evidence tells us.
Travel through time →✦Follow dust, building blocks and giant impacts. See why the Moon’s origin is a scientific model.
Watch worlds form →◐Find the crust, mantle and core. Switch to the atmosphere and landscape views.
Peel back the layers →Tap a word to discover what it means.
Use a simple cycle: ask a question, make a prediction, explore, explain, then try the quiz. Each mission has five short lessons and ten distinct questions. Pip guides children through meeting, learning, trying, answering and earning a badge. Pip has a prepared library of 100 space questions and three mini adventures. Search happens in the browser, without an AI model. Read Pip’s explanations and hints at your own pace. Correct answers are saved; wrong answers show feedback and can be retried. There is no countdown or penalty.
The mission sequence is a learning path. Our solar system is inside the Milky Way, which is itself a galaxy. Labs and free exploration remain available even when a mission is locked.
Guest progress and games are saved in this browser when storage is available. Configured grown-up visits can also save and load correctly answered cloud discoveries from Profile. No child name or account is requested. Clearing browser data removes progress.
Planet maps, cutaways, landscapes and old-Earth views have different levels of evidence. Read the model captions and source notes. This is an educational explorer, not a live position map. Earlier curriculum includes linked NASA resources; independent educator review of the current release remains pending.
