Eclipses: a shadow alignment

In a solar eclipse, the Moon can cast a shadow on Earth. In a lunar eclipse, Earth’s shadow falls on the Moon.

The Moon’s orbit is tilted, so these alignments do not happen every month. Use indoor models to explore them; never look directly at the Sun.

Wonder about this

What is in the middle during a lunar eclipse?

A science clue

Earth is between the Sun and Moon, and its shadow reaches the Moon.
